Flewn
I am really happy to say that for the next 3 months I have the chance and privilege to be part of this amazing project created by Gabriel Smetzer.
I’m really exited to get really into it as it ties in with all the things I love. I can’t wait to see how the final product will turn out.
More info about the project on kickstarter here & you can follow the progress of the production on the blog here .
Wish me luck!
Last few weeks of Term 3 have been busy as ever but I’m really happy with the result. I tried a more “Fantasy” approach to it. The main thing is as much as I am very tight on them and can be a good thing, I was told to try and loosen up just a little to get more life and expression into it. As an exercise my teacher got me to do little colour keys in the aim of changing the light and mood of the piece I already made to break that barrier.
Character based on Marie Curie which I made for my assignment.
Small trial of buildings for a cityscape I’m doing for my assignment themed on early 1900’s Paris.
Sketching
I’ve been trying to get my schedule back on track and decided to give myself two mornings a week to go sketch outdoors because A: it gets me out the house and B:I can get reference and practice that you can’t get sat at a computer all day. I’ve been doing it on and off for a year now and it took me a few trials and errors to find the right spots in town from which I had a good view but wasn’t obvious to the passers-by outside. I tried out this brown recycled paper sketchbook after having it on my shelve for past 3yrs not knowing what to do with it as I saw Mr.Brett Bean use it together with red pencils which liked the finish off together with white highlights . I love his handwork and use of strong shapes simple shapes which is what I need to practice.
I need to practice drawing faces of all shapes, sizes and features so I started to draw some on my phone before I went to bed. Being so small of an area to draw on and doing it with a finger I try to concentrate on making quick marks without thinking of details. I also then tried it with a stylus which is quite hard to use but is a bit more precise. The last image I needed to warm up before attacking assignment work and quickly drew what came to mind on scrap of paper.
